Brand Management

Danny Holland is the name, and brand management is my game. When I took on the role of Events and Public Relations Coordinator for the Mississippi IDeA Network of Biomedical Research Excellence (Mississippi INBRE) at The University of Southern Mississippi (USM) in 2021, the program hadn't had a public relations professional on the team for several years and was struggling to connect with its audience. Since then, I've exponentially increased the brand's presence in Mississippi's research education sector through a comprehensive branding overhaul and by building strong relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.

Graphic Design

I create marketing and promotional materials that deliver tangible results. Whether you need social media graphics, a t-shirt design for your event, or a complete logo revamp for your brand, I bring several years of graphic design experience from my role as Events and Public Relations Coordinator at Mississippi INBRE. I primarily work within the Adobe Creative Cloud suite, with extensive experience in both Adobe InDesign and Illustrator. 

Events Coordination

During my time with Mississippi INBRE, I've served as the lead organizer for multiple STEM research conferences and seminars, with attendance ranging from 300 to over 1,200 participants. From inception to post-event analytics, I'm involved in nearly every aspect of event planning and coordination. My responsibilities have included social media promotion, creation and implementation of promotional materials, personnel management, email marketing and media relations, among other event coordination duties.

Content Creation

Your marketing strategy is useless if your audience doesn't know what you do. That's why I create content that tells a story. At Mississippi INBRE, I craft compelling, easy-to-digest content for the program's website and social media that highlights the significance of our latest scientific discoveries and organizational initiatives. With a diverse audience ranging from new students to seasoned research faculty, I've developed the skill to condense complex information into engaging content that anyone can understand, and more importantly, promotes the brand.

Social Media Management

By now, we all know the importance of a brand's social media presence in today's digital age, especially when it comes to connecting with Millennials and Gen Z. At Mississippi INBRE, organic social media campaigns played a major role in connecting with younger members of the Mississippi research community and keeping them in the loop regarding new opportunities and events. I have ample experience managing Mississippi INBRE's social media accounts through Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and X. In addition to organic campaigns, I also have experience with paid advertising campaigns through each of these channels. 

Email Marketing

While email may be thought of as "old school" by those not in the know, email marketing is still one of the best opportunities a brand has to keep the conversation going with its audience. I've conducted multiple email marketing campaigns through both MailChimp and Constant Contact during my time as a marketing intern at The University of Southern Mississippi's Division of Student Affairs and in my current role at Mississippi INBRE.
